Requirements
Admission Requirements
- 3 credits in any subject at SPM level and a pass in Mathematics and Biology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ General Science/ Applied Science*; or
- A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in any subject and a pass in Mathematics and Biology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ General Science/ Applied Science* at SPM level; or
- A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul and a pass in Mathematics and Biology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ General Science/ Applied Science at SPM level; or
- A Certificate (Level 3, Malaysian Qualification Framework, MQF) in the relevant fields with at least CGPA of 2.00 and a pass in Mathematics and Biology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ General Science/ Applied Science at SPM level; or
- A pass in Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3, MQF in the relevant field. (A screening will be conducted and provision for appropriate bridging courses in Mathematics and Biology/Physics/ Chemistry/General Science/Applied Science); or
A qualification that APU accepts as equivalent to the above.
Credit in English is required at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or equivalent.
Note: The above entry requirements may differ for specific programmes based on the latest programme standards published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The qualification and entry requirements for the programmes will be determined based on the "Comparison List of Equivalency of International Qualifications with SPM (O-Levels equivalent) and STPM (A-Levels equivalent)" published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Programme Outline
What We Teach
This APU Diploma in Psychology is designed to provide:
- Students a rigorous grounding in the science of human behaviour, with a focus on contemporary psychological themes such as mental health, neurodiversity, and cross-cultural understanding in a global context.
- Emphasises immersive, dynamic learning that builds communication clarity, ethical awareness, interpersonal competence, collaboration confidence, and strong digital and research literacy.

Semester 1
The programme begins by nurturing a strong foundation in understanding human behaviour and the ideas that shaped the field. Students will strengthen their critical thinking, communication, and academic skills, enabling them to engage with information confidently and responsibly. The programme also builds essential digital competencies, preparing them to navigate modern tools with ease and succeed in an increasingly connected world.

Semester 2
This semester strengthens students’ understanding of human development, behaviour and interpersonal dynamics. It also builds their ability to communicate with purpose in professional settings and to apply ethical principles in decision-making. With these foundations, students are prepared to work confidently with diverse individuals and manage real-world situations with professionalism and clarity.

Semester 3
This semester broadens students understanding of how people think and behave in social and cultural settings. Semester 4
This semester deepens understanding of relationship development and communication processes. It fosters an entrepreneurial mindset that encourages initiative and practical problem-solving. Semester 5
This semester deepens understanding of human behaviour by exploring organisational contexts, personality, and everyday interaction. Study of the brain and biological systems explains the foundations of thought, emotion, and behaviour. Learning is expanded through analysis of psychological themes in film and television, showing how media narratives shape behaviour, perception, and society.

Semester 6
The final semester deepens understanding of mental processes including attention, memory, and decision-making, alongside psychological disorders and their impact on daily life. The semester integrates knowledge and skills developed across the programme, concluding the learning journey.

*In addition to the above, all students are also required to successfully complete General Studies modules as stipulated by the Malaysian Qualification Agency, as well as fulfill credit requirements for Co-curricular activities. -

Upon successful completion of this programme and fulfilment of requirements for credit transfer, you will be eligible to progress into Level 2 of the following degree programmes offered at APU.
