Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) organised an industrial visit to Logisteed Malaysia on 17 November 2025, providing students with a highly immersive learning experience inside a modern Third-Party Logistics (3PL) environment.

The visit served as an important bridge between classroom learning and real-world operations, exposing students to freight forwarding, warehouse digitalisation, automation tools, and transport coordination—key competencies in today’s global supply chain sector.

A total of 40 students took part, including MBA (Supply Chain Management) students led by Ms Shailaja Kumar, Lecturer at the School of Business (SoB), as well as Foundation and Diploma students in Business, Business Information Technology, and International Business guided by Ms Cynthia Mala Paul Dorairaj from SoB.

Upon arriving at Logisteed’s headquarters in Bandar Baru Bangi, students were warmly welcomed by the operations team, who introduced the company’s international presence and wide-ranging logistics services. As a globally established Japanese logistics brand, Logisteed offered students valuable exposure to world-class supply chain standards and how they are applied within Malaysia’s logistics industry.

One of the most impactful parts of the visit was the structured warehouse tour. Students observed advanced warehouse technologies, including automated storage systems, barcode-enabled inventory management, digital warehouse management tools, and smart fleet scheduling interfaces. They also witnessed how orders for major clients are tracked, picked, processed, and delivered with accuracy and efficiency, demonstrating how automation and real-time data enhance 3PL performance.

Interactive discussions with Logisteed’s operations and planning teams further enriched the experience. Students gained insights into workflow design, customer fulfilment challenges, waste reduction through lean practices, and the importance of precise communication across the supply chain. The session allowed students to connect theoretical knowledge—such as material flow and warehousing strategies—with real industrial applications.

A special highlight was the presence of Mr Koji Yamagata, Managing Director of Logisteed Malaysia, who shared inspiring messages on innovation, the future of logistics, and the growing need for skilled, technologically savvy supply chain professionals. Student reflections highlighted the visit’s value:

  • Edson João Pelembe (MBA with a specialism in Supply Chain Management) appreciated how Logisteed integrates Japanese global standards with Malaysia’s logistics ecosystem.
  • Cabir Ismael Cabir (MBA with a specialism in Supply Chain Management) valued seeing how digital tools improve warehouse accuracy and speed.
  • Santatra Razafindrakoto (MBA )found the experience eye-opening and insightful.
  • Nasir Ali Abdo (MBA with a specialism in Supply Chain Management) stated that witnessing actual operations made theoretical concepts far clearer.

The visit strongly aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), underscoring APU’s commitment to preparing industry-ready graduates with practical, global, and future-focused competencies.
